CEDED IS A GATHERING OF LIKEMINDED PEOPLE FOR A WEEKEND OF MUSIC, PLANTING AND GROWING (BOTH THE TREES AND OURSELVES).

THIS ONE IS FOR THE EXPLORERS OUT THERE - THE ONES WHO WANT TO LEARN FROM, CONNECT WITH, AND NURTURE THE WORLD AROUND US.

WHY WE DO IT

the ceded project was created to give people the chance to take the climate and nature crisis into their own muddy hands.

it is a collective of people who don’t want to rely on big corps and their greenwashing to do the work required. ceded plants trees that are going to stay in the ground for years to come, sequestering carbon and offsetting our individual impact on the planet.

being conscious can sometimes be a little bit overwhelming and a little bit lonely so we want to bring together climate conscious legends, give ‘em the space to share, learn, create, innovate, move, dance and feel a part of something bigger, something tangible and SOMETHING good.

  • OUR ECOSYSTEM

    just like the forests, the ceded project is a wild ecosystem which relies on the unique contributions of every person and their actions, ideas, vibes - the lot!

    just like the trees we really want everyone to look after oneanother, share their belongings as well as their knowledge, act selflessly and without expectation and make everyone feel supported, resepected and just bloody lovely.

    with everyone doing their part, we believe we can nurture a flourishing little ecosystem we will know as the ceded project.

  • OUR IMPACT

    THERE’S SO MUCH THAT WE ARE AIMING FOR AT FUTURE WEEKENDS - RUNNING GENERATORS ON BIOFUEL OR RENEWABLES, BEING MOBILE TO REDUCE THE NEED TO TRAVEL AND SO MUCH MORE.

    right now, we’re focusing on what we buy, what we bin and how we travel. Even seemingly small decisions can grow into long-term positive impact.

    WE WANT TO LEAVE NOTHING ON THE GROUND BUT SEEDS, WHICH IS WHY WE’re encouraging everyone to be super conscious about WASTE AND REDUCING IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE - BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE WEEKEND.

    WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE COMING WILL CONSIDER HOW THEY GET HERE AND SHARE LIFTS WHERE POSSIBLE! road trip playlist anyone?

  • OUR MINDS

    CUriosity, clarity and creativity ARE WHAT WE NEED TO MAKE lasting CHANGE.

    WE WANT THE CEDED PROJECT TO GIVE PEOPLE THE SPACE TO EXPAND THEIR MINDS, TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR MINDS, TO SPEAK THEIR MINDS, AND TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN WHATEVER WAY THEY FEEL DRAWN TO.

    WE WANT TO FOCUS ON THE LATEST SCIENCE TO INFORM OUR DECISIONS, TO SHARE OUR KNOWLEDGE, LEARN FROM AND LISTEN TO ONE ANOTHER AND KNOW THAT we are not ALONE.

    WE ALSO KNOW HOW MUCH taking RESPONSIBILITY AND actively CARING CAN TAKE ITS TOLL ON OUR MINDS SO WE THINK IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT TO CREATE SPACES WHERE WE CAN RELEASE SOME PRESSURE, FEEL LIGHT aND GIVE OUR BRAINS A HEALTHY DANCE BREAK, MINDFUL MOMENT OR SEROTONIN BOOST.

  • OUR BODIES

    WE WANT TO USE OUR BODIES FOR POSITIVE CHANGE!

    WE’ve BEEN GIFTED THESE INCREDIBLE SACKS OF SKIN - so let’s USE ‘em TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY: TAKING CARE OF THE WORLD AROUND US, GETTING OUR HANDS DIRTY, PLANTING TREES, GIVING HUGS in abundance AND HAVING A GOOD OL’ BOOGIE.

    WE WANT TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE CAN GIVE THEIR BODIES WHAT THEY NEED THIS WEEKEND AND REMIND EVERYone THAT WE MUST BE CONNECTED IN OUR MIND AND IN OUR ACTIONS!

  • OUR TREES

    IF YOU HADN’T already GATHERED FROM OUR WAFFLING - WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE TREES!

    WE LOVE THESE SENTIENT ORGANISMS THAT LOOK AFTER ONE ANOTHER, SHARE RESOURCES AND INFORMATION, COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER ORGANISMS, SUPPORT SO MUCH LIFE AND LITERALLY GIVE US THE AIR WE BREATH!!

    WE’ve SEEN THE DESTRUCTION OF TOO MANY TREES WHO ARE CENTURIES OLDER THAN US, AND WE KNOW OF THE IMPACT THEIR REMOVAL HAS HAD. it’s time to REPLENISH SOME OF THE LAND ONCE COVERED BY CANOPY.

    THIS IS NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS - THERE’s a lot TO CONSIDER when it comes to reforestation AND this alone WILL NOT SOLVE ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS (NOT BY A LONG STRETCH!) however, WITH SELECTIVE AND LONG TERM TREE PLANTING, ALONGSIDE OTHER SOLUTIONS, WE CAN AND MUST MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

    CEDED ARE CONSTANTLY LEARNing AND IMPROVing - but under the guidance of our founder, Sandy (Arborist and Founder of the Tall Tree Co.), we ONLY PLANT NATIVE SPECIES THAT WILL never BE FELLED FOR INDUSTRY and WE only PLANT ON THE RIGHT TYPE GROUND (NON PEAT OR WETLAND).

ALl you need to know:

  • so you want to come to this magical weekend in the woods! yay!

    Kiddies under 12 and dogs of any age are welcome for free.

  • The Ceded Project will be hosted this year at Into The Woods at Maughanby Farm. A gorgeous, family-run farm in the heart of Cumbria’s eden valley.

    Please feel free to arrive any time from 2pm on the Thursday!

  • please bring your tent or van with you! we will be camping on site. car parking very close to the camping area! there are also two pods and a cabin available for rent separately if you fancy a little more luxury - please message us if you’re interested!

    There are showers and composting toilets. (you’re welcome!)

  • For eating and drinking:

    • knife, fork, spoon

    • bowl/ plates

    • water bottle

    • coffee cup

    • Money for the bar and food

    • Please do not bring any glass!*

      *Please decant into plastic bottles before arriving! Thank you!

    For camping:

    • Head torch

    • Hot water bottle

    • tent

    • sleeping bag/ mat/ pillow

    For planting:

    • waterproofs

    • warm layers!

    • wellies or walking boots

    • a shovel (if you have one!*)

    • gloves (if you have them!*)

      *we will provide these if not so no stress!

    For the day time:

    • trainers

    • sports wear

    • yoga mat

    • towel

      *this list is very dependent on what activities you want to get involved in!

    Just for fun:

    • fancy dress (optional)

    • please feel free to bring your instruments too!

  • Should you want a sensational culinary experience to accompany the other sensory delights of the weekend - we're hoping to be joined by legendary cumbrian food and drink vendors.


    Please also bring your own delicious feasts to fuel yourselves in between delicious food servings (and we encourage you to do this so you don’t go hungry!). the site has a fully operational kitchen area!

    Please bring your own cutlery, crockery, coffee cups and water bottles so we can reduce our use of single-use materials! if you are bringing your own food, please be mindful of the packaging and if you can, make conscious choices to reduce this where possible! we really want generate as little waste from the weekend as WE CAN.

  • absolutely! bring your little furry friends along. please just be aware that it is a working farm so as long are your four legged pal is okay around other animals it’s okay with us! if not please leave them at home so you can have a stress free weekend.

  • the more merrier! from djing, to jam seshes, art classes to poetry, and research presentations to new discoveries in ecology - we want it all!

    please bring whatever skill or passion you have to do the best thing that you can with it - share it with others! drop us a message on instagram to chat!

  • we really need all the help we can get!!

    we want to create a system where we all contribute to the smooth running of the ceded project but we will need some extra hands to get things off the ground.

    if you want to volunteer and help us with the set up, take down of the festival we would really appreciate it! please send us a message on instagram.

  • we will be running tree planting sessions where you will get all the help you need to plant trees! sandy, our founder, has a hundred years experience, so you’re in good (and muddy) hands!

    we’ll provide equipment for anyone who needs it and we’ll prep the area to make it easier for us all to get some trees in the ground!
